“LAWMEN”  TO PERFORM AT “ALL ABOARD”  175TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE READING RAILROAD

The Norfolk Southern Lawmen Band will be the featured entertainment when “All Aboard” kicks off celebrating the 175th Anniversary of the Reading Railroad.  The gala event will be held at Historic Five Springs Farms located at 1832 Old Swede Road, Yellow House, Pennsylvania beginning with a reception at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008 followed by a sit down buffet dinner at 7:30 p.m.   The Lawmen will perform after dinner.

LAWMEN TO PERFORM AT DARS 32ND ANNUAL JUBILEE

The Lawmen will be the featured entertainment at the 32nd Annual Family Jubilee being held in Indianapolis, Indiana June 20 – 22, 2008.   “We are certainly looking forward to a fun filled night,” said Dale McCoy, lead guitarist for the group.   “This is a great audience and they always have a good time and when they have a good time, we have a better time.”  

The DARS Family Jubilee is a celebration of employee and family release from drug and alcohol problems.  This year’s Jubilee will be held at the Sheraton International City Centre Hotel located at 31 West Ohio Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.   

The Lawmen will be performing at the banquet and after dinner on Saturday night, June 21st at the Brickyard Crossing Resort at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.   The banquet begins at 6:00 p.m.

Registration for the weekend will begin at noon on Friday, June 20 and activities will commence at 7:30 p.m. with a speaker meeting followed by an ice cream social.   Throughout the weekend, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the fellowship and sharing of fellow railroaders.

Lawmen Will Perform at Henry County Concert Series

Folks in the New Castle, Indiana area are in for a real treat when the Norfolk Southern Lawmen Band takes the stage Friday night May 30th to deliver one of their rare public performances.  “We have played in New Castle before and everyone seemed to enjoy the Lawmen very much,” said Stan West, the band’s manager.   “I must have gotten twenty calls wanting to know when the guys were going to be back in the area for a repeat performance.”  “We are looking for a big crowd and a good time for all,” West said.

The show will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the New Castle Arts Park located at the corner of Indiana State Road 38 and 15th street next to the New Castle library.   The concert is free of charge and people are encouraged to bring a blanket and lawn chair.  The venue is covered.   Many people bring picnic baskets and snacks, however a concession stand will be available.

The band was formed in the 1950s by then Southern Railway executive vice president operations, D. W. Brosnan.  Brosnan assembled the group to provide entertainment at company staff meetings and it just kept growing.  Today’s Lawmen are on the road more than 200 days each year traveling throughout the United States performing as goodwill ambassadors for Norfolk Southern Corporation.

Lawmen To Perform in Old Fort, N.C.

The Norfolk Southern Lawmen Band will be performing at the Old Fort train depot in downtown Old Fort, North Carolina on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the annual railroad day celebration.   The band will make three performances beginning at noon then again at 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The Lawmen will be performing their own unique blend of country, bluegrass, pop, rock and roll, beach and train music.   The band travels more than 200 days each year working as goodwill ambassadors for the railroad company. 

The band was formed in the early 1950s by D.W. Brosnan, Southern Railway’s executive vice president operations and future chairman.  It was comprised of employees in the railroad’s security department.  Today’s Lawmen travel throughout the Norfolk Southern Rail System performing at company employee events, customers functions, law enforcement events, Operation Lifesaver symposiums and many other venues.
